In May we saw a record fall in the cost of fuel – according to the Office of National Statistics, prices at the petrol pump reduced by 16.7%, contributing to a slowdown in the rate of inflation.
However, in the past couple of weeks, we’ve seen prices starting to rise again as more drivers return to the roads. In June, prices increased by 4% but fuel is still somewhat cheaper than it was at the end of January.
Whilst motorway filling stations are notoriously expensive by comparison, MOTO has announced that they are trialling an 8p a litre fuel reduction at three service stations, which puts them within 5p a litre of the supermarkets fuel prices.
